TimeXposure
We are prisoners
of time. There is no escape. The clock is ticking. All manner of being
has a limited life expectancy. The wrinkles of old age and the rings
in a tree are the fossils of life marking time. These are clues to the
age of life, past and present. Each day the rising sun heralds a new
beginning and the setting sun marks the decline of life. The most we
can do is find some way to leave an imprint as we pass through our allotted
time.
If
the
photographic
image
captures
a
moment
in
time
then
the
lentiucular
image
expands
the
moment
and
captures
a
continuing
experience.
The
unique
ability
of
the
lenticular
processes
is
to
create
an
image
that
is
in
flux.
The
lenticular
image
suspends
time,
space
and
movement.
It
adds
a
level
of
ambiguity
that
engages
the
viewer's
attention.
The
lenticular
lens
serves
as
a
metaphor
for
the
barriers
we
face
to
understanding.
Through
the
lens,
we
visually
enter
the
three
dimensional
world
presented
by
the
image.
This
artificial
environment
consists
of
interwoven
layers
of
transparent
and
translucent
images
which
are
transformed
by
movement
and
color.
Because
the
viewer
is
unable
to
physically
enter
the
space,
the
intellectual
and
emotional
understanding
of
the
visual
message
is
intriguing.
This
is
art
that
requires
reflection.
timeXposure
is
a
complex
body
of
work.
Contained
in
a
new
art
form,
lenticular
printmaking,
it
challenges
each
of
us
to
explore
the
mysteries
time,
space
and
movement.
